Our estimators read P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) to calculate the exact linear footage of specialized alloy piping, the high-pressure welding labor (including x-ray testing), and the complex valving matrices. We also track the heavy electrical distribution—sizing the switchgear, transformers, and rigid metal conduit (RMC) required for hazardous locations (Class I, Div 1).

Our Resolution Strategy:

The mechanical drawings showed a new 60,000 CFM Air Handling Unit inside an existing central utility plant. We identified that the unit was wider than the roll-up door. We estimated the cost to dismantle the exterior masonry wall, rent a 150-ton crane, rig the unit into place, and rebuild the wall—preventing a massive logistical failure.

Shutdowns and Turnarounds

When a manufacturing plant or refinery shuts down for upgrades, every hour costs the owner money. Estimating a turnaround requires applying severe labor inefficiencies. We price the shift work, the double-time weekend rates, the safety orientations, and the confined-space entry permits that drastically reduce daily productivity.
